Project overview
The aim of the project is to provide safer pedestrian access to the local shopping village on Soldiers Point Rd Salamander Bay. Recent developments of aged care in the area, combined with increased traffic movements have resulted in demand for safer pedestrian access.
The project includes:
- Construction of a raised pedestrian crossing on Soldiers Point Rd
- Pedestrian refuge upgrade in Diemars Rd at the roundabout of Soldiers Point Rd
- Extension of the existing High Pedestrian Activity Area (HPAA) north along Soldiers Point Rd
Construction details:
Detours, nightwork and road closures will be in place for the safety of road users and workers to allow the project to be undertaken. Please follow direction from traffic control onsite.
Soldiers Point Rd Nightwork
- Scheduled to be undertaken at the Soldiers Point Rd Raised Pedestrian Crossing Location from 6pm on 20 July.
- Road closures will be in place at the work site.
- Northbound traffic will be detoured via Monkley Ave, and Randall Dr.
- Southbound traffic will be detoured via Diemars Rd, Homestead St and George Rd.
- One further night of work will be required at the end of the project and will be communicated with the community.
Soldiers Point Rd Daywork
- Northbound traffic will be detoured via Monkley Ave and Randall Dr, southbound traffic will travel along Soldiers Point Rd through the worksite.
Diemars Rd pedestrian refuge construction
- Diemars Rd will be closed at the Soldiers Point Rd roundabout.
- Access to and from Diemars Rd will be via Homestead St and George Rd. Soldiers Point Rd and Randall Dr will operate as normal.
