Project overview

The section of Medowie Road heading south from Blueberry Road to the recently upgraded intersection at Catherine McAuley Catholic College has numerous pavement failures that have been repaired over the years.

With increased traffic in the area this section of road will be subject to further traffic loadings and pavement failures.

The works included:

Removal of the existing road wearing course and 300mm of existing pavement.
Insitu stabilisation of up to 200mm of existing subbase pavement material.
New subsoil drains in each shoulder.
New 300mm thick stabilised road base pavement material.
New asphalt wearing course.
New linemarking to match the existing linemarking layout.

Medowie Road, Medowie – Seg 215: Linemarking has now been completed as scheduled.

Asphalt wearing course was completed on Monday and has come up great. Linemarking is scheduled for Tuesday 27 August next week

Asphalt wearing course was postponed due to weather this week and is rescheduled for Monday next week. Some corrective patching was completed ready for the wearing course.

Pavement works have progressed this week in the Southbound lane while traffic used the new pavement (completed last week) in the Northbound lane under traffic lights. The high winds earlier this week impacted contractor availability and hampered efforts to undertake pavement conditioning (stabilization of existing material) in the Southbound lane. This activity has been rescheduled for this Friday and it is anticipated that Medowie Road will be reopened to 2-way traffic (at reduced speed) from Saturday. This delay has subsequently impacted our ability to source quarry products, with the importation of new pavement material to recommence mid next week. Weather permitting, all pavement works associated with Medowie Road are expected to be completed by Friday week (26/7). A primer seal and AC surface will be applied at a later date with limited traffic impacts.

We're extending the current one-way arrangements under traffic lights as follows:

One way under traffic lights: Today until this Saturday 20/7
Two way under reduced speed: Saturday 20/7 to Wednesday 24/7
One way under traffic lights: Wednesday 24/7 until Friday 26/7

Overnight single lane closure will progress with north and south bound traffic running under traffic lights. Traffic control crew will be in place to monitor.

Medowie Rd, Medowie – Seg 215: Works commenced this week with shoulder stripping and subsoil drainage installation. Traffic disruptions are being managed to limit the impact while still maximizing the productivity to keep within the construction schedule.

Medowie Rd, Medowie – Seg 215: Also next week we will be commencing pavement rehabilitation on this project. This project is funded by a combination of Grant’s totaling $816,500 and will deliver 250m of pavement reconstruction and subsoil drainage. Works are estimated to cost $818,000 and scheduled to be completed in August. Our Project Manager is Grant Whitbourne, our Civil Designer is Dylan Pennicott and onsite construction will be completed by Marc VanVugt’s team.
