Italia Road, Balickera is a haulage route for one of the many hard-rock quaries in Port Stephens, providing direct access to the Pacific Highway. Significant pavement failures have been remedied for a 240m section of the east-bound lane, immediately east of the Boral quarry access road.

Full depth pavement reconstruction has been completed which includes subgrade preparation, subsoil installation, new pavement material, and a 2-coat seal.
