The new shared path project for Fern Bay is 1.7km long and provides a much needed safe link for both pedestrians and cyclists.
Stage 1 – Between Vardon and Taylor Roads
Stage 1 was completed in 2021 and involved the construction of a new 430 metre path between Vardon and Taylor Roads. The new shared path replaced a narrow footpath making it suitable for both pedestrians and cyclists.
Stage 2 – Between Bayway Village and Vardon Road and between Taylor and Braid Roads
Council obtained the necessary heritage approvals in November 2023 for the construction of the remaining shared path sections alongside Nelson Bay Road, which are now complete.
