Samaritans' Child Wellbeing Project

This project offers programs in schools that actively support emotional wellbeing, engagement with learning and increasing children's confidence and resilience for students aged 5-12. Activities include:

DRUMBEAT (Discovering Relationships Using Music, Beliefs, Emotions, Attitudes and Thoughts). The music-based program encourages teamwork and building social and emotional skills to better navigate life at school and home.

  • Consists of ten, one hour sessions
  • Supports up to 12 students
  • With specific including self-responsibility, values, emotional expression, identity, peer pressure, harmony and teamwork

The Seasons For Growth program supports children to build strategies to deal with challenges, grief or big changes in their lives. With a focus on supporting children who experience loss due to death, family separation or migration.

  • Delivered over eight, forty minute sessions
  • Supports small groups of children (4-7 per group)
  • Based on age brackets of 6-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-18 years of age.

This program is funded by the Communities for Children Raymond Terrace and Karuah Facilitating Partners to service: Raymond Terrace, Karuah, Tanilba Bay-Lemon Tree Passage, Tea Gardens-Hawks Nest, Slat Ash Public School.
