Port Stephens Kindness Project

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

Let's start a kindness epidemic!

We are hearing some amazing stories from across the globe, Australia and Port Stephens. Stories of people coming together (from a distance) to help each other and find new ways of connecting. We want to capture as many of these ideas as possible.

Lets show the strength of the Port Stephens community.

Post an image, video or share a story telling us how you are staying connected and supporting others during self-isolation and social distancing. You can post as many ideas as you like, or show love for others by commenting.

Together, we’ve got this.

Tomaree Community Interagency response to COVID 19

by Jen , 12 days ago

The Tomaree Community Interagency has been extremely busy making sure people know about community contacts and services that are still open and operating. Keep an eye out- a flyer might hit your letterbox or you might have noticed a poster here and there in a shop front. Great work!

Shout out to street libraries 😍

    by Caity, 13 days ago

An appreciation post for all street libraries out there! They always make me smile, but during this COVID crisis they have helped even more by providing FREE rental of books with no need to visit a library.

This one I walked past today even includes Dettol wipes to make sure everyone can still be as safe as possible.

Thank you to every household out there that does this for their community 👍😊

Community high tea for Nursing Home residents in the Bay.

by Stephen Keating, about 1 month ago

With Covid-19 forcing Nursing Homes to lock down, the elderly residents are unable to venture out or receive visitors.

I wanted to do something to show the residents that the community is still thinking of them in this challenging time by putting on a community-funded ”high tea” event in each of the nursing homes.

The event would include all the specialty items that would not normally be available to the residents such as cakes, cream biscuits, hors d'oeuvres and more as a special event in each of the nursing homes in the bay

The event is funded by everyday members... Continue reading

    Youth Week 2020

by jenniferu, about 2 months ago

Council is celebrating Youth Week 2020 with a creatively visual experience. Original 'Connection' postcards were created by local artist Nick Stuart to distribute at local events during Youth Week 2020. As this wasn't possible due to the pandemic, we want to share these virtual postcards with the community. Advocate for the new Youth Space on the Tomaree Peninsula, send it to someone to connect with in this time of isolation. It's your choice. The theme for Youth Week this year is 'Speak Up, Be involved, Get connected and Have fun'. It's especially the time to get connected in innovative ways... Continue reading

A Coffee ATM? Take my money!

by Caity, about 2 months ago

How cool is this from King St Confectionery??!

"Strange times call for strange measures. We have installed Raymond Terrace's first "Coffee ATM". Just like a normal ATM has little people inside printing money, this one has big people inside making Coffee. Mostly Beverage products available and VERY limited lines of our other products. This measure stops us from catching the Flu and giving it to you. Card transactions and regulars TAB only. 6am till 11am 6 Days. Thank you for your understanding and support. Keeping it just above water at King Street Confectionery."
